This project was a competition to design a restaurant and art gallery in an area globally renowned for its wines: Mendoza, Argentina. Inspired by the environment itself, we proposed an experiential journey through the four elements: earth, air, fire, and water.
We aimed to pause time in a shelter, returning to the roots, delving into the earth, and discovering its fruits. Feeling the stillness of water.
The exploration began outdoors, with the earth, and ended in the heart of the building, in the kitchen, with fire. The construction emerges from the earth and expands into the territory. Thus we wanted to create a mass that merges with the terrain through the chosen material, earth-toned concrete, and a series of courtyards that organize activities indoors.
A timeless structure, defined by the simplicity of forms and connection with the elements of the environment, awakening and stimulating all the senses.
“From Space, along with his brother Time, under the persistent gravity, feeling matter as a slower space, I wonder in amazement, about what I don’t know.” —E. Chillida
